Important

This blog reflects the personal views and experience of a 60+ year old, reasonably intelligent, man with a professional technical background, who has been wearing hearing aids of various sorts since the early 1960’s.

It is not intended to be an authoritative or definitive work and has not been researched in any way. If any visitor is concerned about their own hearing or that of someone close, my immediate and unconditional advice is to see your own GP and ask for a referral to the local NHS audiology clinic. After that there may be many other choices open to you on the basis of the advice given. This is, however, the only sensible and realistic way to first address the situation.

I may insert web links into the menu block on the right, which I consider to be of particular interest or usefulness to visitors, and appropriate to this site’s topic. They have been included because of the content only. Linking to any site in no way implies that I approve or disapprove of any of the products or companies involved, or even that I have ever used them.

I do not receive any incentives to make these links and will not consider taking any.

I repeat the only general advice given by myself to people making a first effort to tackle hearing impairment :- see your own GP and ask for a referral to the local NHS audiology clinic.

I will be happy to receive others opinions for either public or private consideration. This particularly from authorities in this field, especially if it is thought that I have made significant errors of fact. Or if I have, unintentionally, made statements generally ‘unhelpful’ to good audiology practise.
